Indigenous interactions: In the Great Lakes area, the Meskwaki regarded this shrub as an important medicine, and used the inner bark as an emetic (Moerman, 1998).
Aside from its charming name, the buttonbush creates intriguing, mini-snowball-like floral balls amid glossy green leaves, an eye-catching, unusual effect. Excellent for the shadier spot in your rain garden.
