This clump-forming sedge produces yellow-tan seedheads resembling a bristly, tapered bottle-brush. Host plant to a number of butterflies. The seeds provide food for birds. Good for rain gardens. Sedges (and grasses) were the preferred food of the mammoths that once lived in Michigan.
